CHALK ART IN ACTION at Briarcliff Village

The Northland Community Alliance (NCA) is organizing the first “Chalk Art In Action to be held at Briarcliff Village on September 13th.  Their primary purpose is to conduct and support a positive community development activity by offering a  FREE Family-friendly event for the Northland community that showcases local artists, high school and college students talents.

PARTICIPANTS

Anyone ages 16 and older.  Local artists and students from Northland High Schools, Park University, Maple Woods and William Jewel and the K.C. Art Institute are invited to showcase their works on the sidewalks of Briarcliff Village. 

AWARDS

Gift Certificates good at any facility at Briarcliff Village will be awarded to:

  • Best in Show     $250
  • 1st Place:           $150
  • Artists’ Choice $50
  • People’s Choice $50

JUDGING CATEGORIES

  • High School & College
  • Adult Artists

REGISTRATION - The first twenty-five (25) registrants are FREE

Fee is $25.00    

  • First 25 Registrants are FREE

  • Indicate if you will participate by yourself or as part of a group.

Note:  You will be notified by email, if you are one of the first 25 applicants or if you need to send a check for $25.00 made out to NCA.

RULES

There can only be one lead artist, but any number of supporting artists per space.

There is no required art theme

Art must be family-friendly.

No nude or lewd artwork, no stenciling, only solid, non-toxic chalk pastels can be used.

Organizers have the right to disqualify and/or remove any inappropriate art or writing that they may deem necessary.

Digital photos will be taken and used for publicity purposes.

No political or commercial advertising statements allowed.

Not responsible for damage or theft of art work.

Basic starter box of chalks provided & artist paper.

Participants are required to sign a liability waiver prior to beginning to draw

Organizers and judges have the right to modify or add to these rules, as necessary.

JUDGING

Judging based on first impression, creativity, originality, skill and use of color.

Decisions of the judges and organizers are final

SCHEDULE – SEPTEMBER 13

9:00-10:00 a.m.              Artists Sign in at Registration Tent

9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.      Artist can draw to 4:00pm

4:00 p.m.                       Judging

4:30 p.m.                       Awards
